How to Discover New Music with Rhapsody Music Service

One of the best things about Rhapsody is listening to new music risk free. I can hear the name of a new band from my friends, my kids or the radio - type it into Rhapsody and listen without having to invest $.99 per song or buy a complete CD. Rhapsody has so many options that this is just one of many ways to bring new music into my world. This page is dedicated to helping you explore the multiple ways to add new (or old) music to your world - rock on!

Navigating the Rhapsody Tabs for New Music

The Rhapsody Jukebox Software (aka the Rhapsody Client) uses a tab structure at the top to help you navigate to various sections of the service. We're going to focus on the search box, What's New, Music Guide, Channel Guide and Playlist Central and what each section can do for you.

Let's Start with the Search Box

The search box at the top of Rhapsody gives you quick access to specific artists, track, composer, keyword or composer. It is pretty straightforward to find the artist or song you want to hear right now:

  1. Type in the name of the artist, song, etc. into the search box
  2. Select the category (artist, track, composer, keyword or composer) from the drop down menu. The keyword does not look for lyrics in songs, but can help you find music if you just know a word or two of the song title, artist or album.
  3. Click "search" and Rhapsody will display a listing of available music that meet your criteria. If you have mis-spelled the word, Rhapsody does not do a very good job of matching up what you want vs what you typed in so you may need to try a few times if you don't get the exact music you're looking for.
  4. Clicking on the name of the artist, album or track will take you to the correct page and from there you can play the song.
The What's New Tab

Next on the new music discover tab is the New Music Tab (go figure!). Anyhow, this tab displays the latest artists that have new albums released. This incudes new artists as well as established artists with new music. This section is programmed by the Rhapsody editors, but you can adjust what you see over time by rating music in Rhapsody. As Rhapsody learns more about what you like and don't like, it adjusts what you see in this tab.
